| Lecture Abstract |
Research in electronic cash dated back to the early 80s. Recently, it has become an active research area again, thanks to the growing popularity of bitcoin, one of the few crypto-currencies that is being used in practice. This talk surveys existing research results on electronic cash, with a focus on the array of properties offered by different proposals. We briefly go through the high-level constructions of some of the seminal works and discuss some of the cryptographic techniques employed. We will also introduce the architecture of bitcoin and compare it with electronic cash. |
