Lecture   Abstract

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is an essential   enabling technology for the fifth generation (5G) wireless networks to meet   the heterogeneous demands on low latency, high reliability, massive   connectivity, improved fairness, and high throughput. This talk is the first   part of the mini-workshop to provide a comprehensive survey of the impact of   this emerging communication technique on future wireless networks.   Particularly, in this talk, the basic concept of NOMA is introduced, how the   NOMA principle affects the design of the generation multiple access   techniques is described, and various practical forms of NOMA developed by   academia and industries are discussed. Finally, the talk is concluded with a   discussion of important research challenges and promising future directions   in the design of new forms of NOMA.
