Her research interests include underwater   cyber-physical systems, real-time embedded systems and signal processing,   wireless communications, and wireless sensor networks. She served as an   Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications 2006-2008   and IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology 2008-2016. She has been   Associate Editor for the IEEE Journal of Oceanic Engineering since 2016. She   is the recipient of an NSF CAREER award in 2009. She has been a fellow of the   IEEE and Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE Vehicular Technology Society since   2015.

Lecture    Abstract

Underwater   Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) have found important applications in recreation   and filming, ocean exploration, environment and infrastructure monitoring,   oil and gas industry, energy harvesting, fishery and shipping, as well as   military and coastal defense. This talk will first introduce some of the   existing underwater physical systems such as underwater drones, Argos, and   gliders. It will then focus on the cyber or internet challenges encountered   in the wireless communication and networking needs of the underwater CPS.   Finally, it will summarize the recent advances in underwater wireless   communication schemes and their field applications to infrastructure   monitoring and environmental monitoring.
